Tamarindo – info

This small former fishing hamlet is mainly known for its amazing surf breaks, stunning beaches & sunny, warm temperatures averaging 26 degrees Celsius all year round. However it has much more to offer, especially for outdoor adventurers and nature lovers, from sports fishing to scuba diving, horseback riding & river rafting. ‘Playa Grande’, on the other side of the ‘Río Malepalo’ is especially famous for its good surf swells, whilst ‘Playa Langosta’ is boasting dazzling white sandy beaches & luxury villas. In case board- riding does not take up all of your time in Tamarindo, you can visit one of the many nearby National Parks, like the ‘Parque Nacional las Baulas de Guanacaste’ to see Leatherback turtles hatch or do a canoe trip in the National Wildlife Refuge with its protected woodland & captivating wild life. As quiet as this place may seem on paper, you won’t be left alone with the 1000 inhabitants of Tamarindo as the many international travellers & tourists have been leaving their footprint quite extensively, shaping the towns appearance with its hospitality developments, bars & its advancing foodie- culture.
