Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Visa?

It all depends on where you want to study. Before you confirm your booking, you should go to the website of the corresponding Embassy and find out about Visa requirements, fees and how long you will have to wait to get your Visa granted.

What if the language school does not have availability for my dates?

In that case, you will get an email from the school informing you about alternative travel dates to choose from. If that does not work out for you, you don’t have to sign up for a course.

I want to study Spanish, but don’t know which location & school would suit me best…

Just use our filter tools to get the best suggestions for schools & locations. Do you like to study in an intimate setting? – Then choose ‘small schools’. Do you want to enjoy the ‘winter sun’ or have you always dreamed of visiting the ‘jungle’? How do you want to spend your free time? – Choose your preferred ‘ambience’. What kind of field do you want to base your studies on? – We have a list of available courses, you can choose from. Finding your perfect Spanish experience can be so easy!

Can I travel on a budget?

Of course you can! Our language schools offer good value courses & accommodation at very moderate rates, which can give you the possibility of extended holidays whilst learning a new language & getting to know a different culture. If you are flexible regarding your travel destination, why not do a ‘flight search’ using Momondo’s interactive ‘flight-checker’ to see where your money can get you to…

Do I need a medical insurance?

Unless you are a resident in the European Union & are travelling within the EU, you will need a medical (travel) insurance that covers you. To find out how much it will cost, you can get a price quote with our World Nomads travel insurance provider.

When do I need to pay for my course?

This is depending on your language school. Most schools will ask for a deposit to confirm your booking and will then charge the rest of the payment just before your arrival. You can find the T&Cs of your chosen school on our booking form, so you are aware of when any payment will be requested.

Do I have to book my accommodation with the language school?

No. Unless you are signing up for a specific ‘Program’ that has accommodation included in the price or you are younger than 18 years, you are free to stay with friends, relatives or an alternative accommodation provider. The schools are offering accommodation to enable you to spend more time with your fellow students and the local people & to give you access to low budget rooms. That’s why we would highly recommend to consider this option.

I have not been travelling on my own before – should I better do this with a friend?

Of course you can travel with your friend, however from our experience, doing language travels on your own can be very beneficial. As you will be pushed to leave your mother tongue behind and engage more with your fellow students and especially the locals with your new language. It is just part of the effort of getting to know a different culture – coming out of your comfort zone will be the more rewarding in the long run. If you are worried about arriving alone to a new location, most schools can ease the pain by organising an airport pick up service for you & once you’ve reached your school, you will most definitely be encountering a lot of friendly smiley faces being eager to get to know you.
