Malaga – info
Malaga is the 6th largest city in Spain and has its own sea port on the beautiful Costa del Sol. Malagas history can be dated over a whopping 3000 years back in time with Romans, Muslims & Castilians involved, shaping the towns very architectural presence. You can find a Roman amphitheatre next to the Moorish Alcazar fortress & the Muslim palace of Gibralforo.
Apart from the various cathedrals, narrow moorish town quarters, wide plazas and ocean promenades, one of the places definitely worth while visiting is the Museum of Pablo Picasso, who was born in this magnificent town.
Things to do in Malaga:
El Palo – fishing district: Take a stroll to one of the beach bars here and taste the traditional Espeto de Sardinas, grilled on a stick over a fire.
Jardín botánico de la Concepcion: Discover 2000 species of plants from all over the world, a wide range of birds and great architecture like an aqueduct from the 18th century, Palace – House and the Loringian Museum. An oasis of nature, art & culture!
Atarazanas market: Spend the morning in this colourful Arabic style building, buying the freshest meat, fruit, veg, cheese and fish Malaga has to offer and soak in the vibe of this historical location that once housed a 14th century – shipyard, convent, fort and hospital, with one of its original moorish arches still intact.
Gibralforo castle & Alcazaba: Head up the hill for a bit of history, wonderful gardens & great views on a Sunday afternoon (free entry).
The school offers a selection of free and paid activities for the afternoons and weekends, e.g.:
Cookery classes, Welcome Party, Pub – nights, Literature/ Film/ history – workshops, Flamenco lessons, Kite – surfing lessons in Tarifa, trips to the towns of Nerja, Cordoba, Granada, Sevilla, Gibraltar & Ronda.
What students said about this school:
The atmosphere in the school between students and staff was brilliant! I will Definitely come back to Lingua. I was about 40 years older than my fellow students, but it seemed to make no difference- I made many friends from many countries, who I hope will keep in touch with me. I liked the mix of Grammar and Conversation and the rotation of teachers for the conversation sessions. (Keith, UK)
