What students said about this school

I received a high level of attention and was please to share a classroom with people learning at my level. They provide a nice selection of activities outside the classroom as well. Finding suitable accommodations was a breeze & I especially appreciated the multicultural atmosphere created by attending the learning institute in general. (Brett, USA)

San Sebastian – info

San Sebastian or ‘Donostia’ in Basque is a juxtapose of traditional small town flair, modern city grandeur & seaside charm surrounded by stunning green hills and the atlantic ocean.

The old town is brimming with small shops, traditional ‘hostales’ & bars spreading the Tapas culture and flashy world class restaurants. Whilst the new town centre hosts popular events from the International Jazz festival in July to the yearly International Film Festival in September, which is hosted by the glamorous hotel María Cristina and presents the world’s top notch celebrities.

The city has just won the title European capital of culture 2016, a recognition that sparks many exciting activities, events & workshops for visitors and locals.

What fortifies Donostia’s charisma is the fascinating mix of Spanish & Basque culture, showing in the language, architecture, demeanour and food. ‘Pintxos’ are the local tapas and ‘Aupa’ substitutes the Castilian ‘Hola’ here in this compact metropolis that is nothing like the Spanish stereotype tries to suggests.

Things to do in San Sebastian:

Monte Urgull: This hilltop boosts impressive views or selfie backdrop, adorned with a Christ statue – the perfect spot for sunset watchers. Walking up takes around 30 minutes.

Parte Vieja: Old town with narrow winding streets, lovely old buildings & cramped in churches. Laid back at day time, buzzing at night.

Semana Grande: Important local celebrations mid August with many activities & fireworks competition. Big party!

San Telmo museum: A fascinating building featuring the culture & history of “Euskadi” (the Basque Country).

La Bretxa: Established farmers market with local produce in the city centre.

La Conchi: Plaza de la Constitución, picturesque square which in the past was a bullfighting arena.

Aquarium: One of the most innovative in Europe with a see through 360 degree tunnel.
